In week 12 (as well as some of weeks 8 and 10), you were introduced to issues regarding serial murder in the medical field. Think about how medical murders have been covered up in hospitals and nursing homes, allowing the serial killer to move around from institution to institution and continue their killing sprees. Choose a specific medical serial murderer to use as an example to illustrate the points you make throughout your paper as you answer the following three questions:
- Why are serial murders in the medical setting relatively neglected, allowing medical serial killers to amass enormous body counts?
- What, if anything, do you think can be done in the medical setting to help reduce the chances of medical serial killers getting away with their crimes or being allowed to commit such crimes in the first place?
- Why do you think medical institutions are reluctant to enforce such policies or to engage in investigations?
