  • With the file NP_PPT365_2021_1a_FirstLastName_2.pptx open, ensure that your first and last name is displayed in the presenter notes on Slide 1.
    • If the presenter notes do not display your name, delete the file and download a new copy.

PROJECT STEPS

  1. As the coordinator of the tutoring center at Pine University, you have been asked to create a presentation highlighting the services offered in the tutoring center. This presentation will be shown to all in-coming freshmen and their parents at new student orientation. The goal of this presentation is to explain to parents the types of support that are available to their students, as well as to encourage the students to utilize the tutoring services throughout their academic careers at Pine University. A central focus of this presentation should be on how the tutoring program aids in the student success rate at the college level and will lead to better employability upon graduation.
Begin on Slide 1 by typing Pine University as the slide title.
  2. Change the theme color of the presentation to Green Yellow.
  3. With Slide 1 (“Pine University”) still displaying, type Tutoring Services as the subtitle.
  4. Add a new Slide 2 using the Title and Content layout, and enter the following text as the slide title:
    Academic Services Building
  5. On Slide 2 (“Academic Services Building”), in the content placeholder, insert the picture from the file Support_PPT365_2021_1a_Building.jpg, available for download from the website, to illustrate the building.
  6. On Slide 3 (“Flexible Tutoring Spaces”), without using a content placeholder, insert the picture from the file Support_PPT365_2021_1a_Rooms.jpg, available for download from the website, to illustrate the tutoring space.
  7. With Slide 3 still displaying, format the picture you just inserted as follows:

a. Resize the picture to a height of 5.0″.
b. Crop the picture to a Rectangle: Rounded Corners shape from the Rectangles section of the Crop to Shape gallery. (Hint: Depending on your version of Office, the shape may be named Rounded Rectangle instead.)
c. Position the picture as shown in Figure 1 below, use a Smart Guide to align the left edge of the picture with the left edge of the title.

  1. On Slide 4 (“Services We Provide”), add a bulleted list as follows:
    a. Change the layout to Two Content to balance the slide design.
    b. In the new content placeholder on the right, type the following text as a bulleted list:

    ESL Assistance
  2. On Slide 5 (“Writing Center Services”), format the text “Formatting” as follows:
    a. Change the font to Arial Black.
    b. Change the font size to 24 point.
    c. Change the font color to Green, Accent 2, Darker 25% (6th column, 5th row in the Theme Colors palette).
    d. Bold the text. [Mac hint – You will not need to bold the text as Mac automatically applies bold formatting to the Arial Black font].
  3. With Slide 5 still displaying, use the Format Painter to copy the formatting from the text “Formatting” to the text “Writing”.
  4. Delete Slide 6 (“Writing Center”).
  5. Return to Slide 5 (“Writing Center Services”), copy the text “Writing”, and then paste it above the left column on Slide 6 (“How We Tutor”) to provide the missing heading.
  6. On Slide 7 (“Where We Tutor”), create a SmartArt graphic as follows:
    a. Convert the bulleted list to a SmartArt graphic using the List layout Vertical Bullet List shown in Figure 2 below.
    b. Change the text “Library Writing Center” to Library Writing Lab in the second shape.

  7. On Slide 8 (“Major Specific Tutoring”), edit the slide as follows:

    b. In the content placeholder on the left, enter the following multilevel bulleted list:

  • Accounting
  • Economics
  • Pre-Med
  • Pharmacology
  1. On Slide 9 (“Contact Tutoring Services”), remove the hyperlink from the email address.
  2. On Slide 10 (“Important Things to Note”), edit the slide as follows:
    a. Format the bulleted list as a numbered list.
    b. Type Be on time! as the fourth numbered item.
    c. Type the following text in the Notes pane:
    Schedule your appointment early.

In Slide Sorter view, your presentation should look like the Final Figure on the following page.
