Abortion Essay Sample

Women can conceive when they are not ready to carry the pregnancy to term and support the baby when born, thus opting for abortion. In some countries, abortion is legal, while carrying out an abortion in others is a crime. However, from scientific evidence available on human biology, deciding to have an abortion is alright. First, carrying a pregnancy to term requires a woman to be healthy and consume the appropriate diet to bear a healthy baby. A woman with hypertension can choose to abort since the pregnancy is likely to make the condition worse. Therefore, she should not be condemned for taking action since her well-being comes first.

Conservatives claim that abortion is equivalent to committing murder. However, they fail to consider that only one sperm fertilizes the ovum and the remaining millions die. Also, before a fetus is 24 weeks old, the nerves connecting to the brain have not developed (Nisar, 2021). Therefore, the fetus does not feel any pain during an abortion, making it a good practice. Besides, banning abortion might make some women carry out clandestine abortions, likely to endanger their lives (Jaggar, 2018). In countries where abortion is legal, women visit health facilities where qualified doctors carry out the procedure safely.

Abortion is right since it makes women achieve their full potential in life. For instance, adolescents who are still schooling might become pregnant and drop out of school. Most of them live terrible lives since they do not qualify for most of the jobs available. Also, the children they bear are likely to miss education due to financial constraints, and the cycle continues. Consequently, abortion is right for the economic well-being of the woman.

In conclusion, every woman has a right to choose whether to keep her pregnancy or abort it. From various scientific researches, aborting does not hurt the fetus since it has not developed yet. Therefore, countries should legalize it to avoid women doing it in secret, which can harm them.
