For Project One in this course, due in Module Five, you will choose a career in the policing and law enforcement field, and focus on the functions, responsibilities, and jurisdictions of the role; which style of policing it best aligns with; what you can infer about the organization based on each style of policing; the recruitment and candidate vetting process for that career; and which theory of policing it best aligns with.
For this discussion board, you will introduce yourself to your classmates and your instructor and choose the career that will be the focus of the project. You will then describe the functions, responsibilities, and jurisdictional aspects of the career role chosen. First, review the Career Exploration resource. Then, based on your current interests, choose one career from either the “State/Local Law Enforcement” section or the “Federal Law Enforcement” section.
Include the following in your initial post:
- Introduce yourself and why you are interested in the field of criminal justice.
- State the career you chose. You are required to pick a career from either the “State/Local Law Enforcement” section or the “Federal Law Enforcement” section.
- Explain why you chose that career and which category (State/Local Law Enforcement or Federal Law Enforcement) it falls under.
- Describe the functions, responsibilities, and jurisdictional aspects of the role. While some of the careers are outlined in your textbook, additional research may be necessary. Once you access the Career Exploration resource, you can click on the “Learn More” button below the career chosen for additional information.
