WA2: ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION:
A completed Annotated Bibliography project will include the following:
Annotated Bibliography – A list of resources followed by a brief description and evaluative paragraph known as the annotation. The purpose of the annotation is to summarize the source cited. The annotated list should reflect the research you intend to use for your next writing assignment.
Minimum of Four sources (a minimum of TWO scholarly, peer-reviewed sources, and maximum of two non-scholarly articles) from The San Antonio Report and/or The Texas Tribune; 200-250 words for each annotations, MLA format.
Reflective Overview:
In a 500 word reflective essay, describe your research strategy, process, and what you learned from the AB assignment. The reflection should convey how your research happened as clearly as possible. An important part of this reflection is for you to look at the process of research critically and to divide your actions into steps. You should have a definite beginning point, a middle point, and an ending point to your research process. Use this reflective essay to communicate specifics about your improved understanding and use of library modules, services, and resources.
Use the following prompts to help guide your reflection:
- How did you think about and refine your preliminary research topic?
- What specific strategies did you develop for finding relevant information?
- What specific library search tools did you use and why?
- Did you have trouble finding some types or formats of information, and if so, how did you overcome this challenge?
- Did you have some reasons for not selecting specific resources?
- What did you learn about finding information on your topic?
- What did you learn about your own research process and style?
- What expertise have you gained as a researcher?
Your reflection should be polished, free from mechanical/grammatical errors, and have a logical and effective flow. Additionally, include a thorough self-assessment on your active participation in class leading to this assignment. Include examples of how you managed this assignment from start to end, and what student support services helped you while developing this project. Finally, what grade do you believe you earned on the AB assignment?
