This assignment examines the discipline of Social Science and focuses attention on one of the major contributions from the study of Social Science. Identify one major contribution to an understanding on how society works, interacts and becomes better in its function in serving the needs in any society.
DUE DATE & A NOTE OF WARNING: The final essay is due, at the beginning of class time on Thursday, April 14th for SOSc 101.001 (No Late submissions / No Exceptions). All presentations must be made in a folder and must include all notes, rough drafts, etc. taken and made during the writing of the assignment. Failure to submit the research essay assignment on time and without the accompanying notes, can and will substantially reduce your total points and may hurt your chances of successfully completing the course.

- The Text of the essay must be, at least, 3(Three) full pages in length and cannot exceed 4 (four) pages.
The Essay must contain Footnotes or End Notes and a BIBLIOGRAPHICAL listing of articles and books used in the compilation of the essay. At least 5 (five) Bibliographical sources must be consulted and cited. Only 1 (one) internet and 1 (one) Encyclopediasource can be used. The text book can be used and listed, but not as one of the required 5 (five) sources. Journal and on-line Articles must be submitted for Instructor approval.
- In the essay, preferably in the introduction, students must define, explain and incorporate the following terms: “social science” / or “society” and “progress.” Explain the meaning of the terms as well as their significance and relevance in the context of the essay. Also, discuss whether or how, the terms/ideas are compatible.
- Students are encouraged to make an outline of their research essay and submit it to the Instructor for discussion, critique and approval. Students are encouraged to consult with the Instructor during the writing process. This will ensure that your research is acceptable and on the right track. Do remember, to include the outline in the final presentation.
