Geriatric and Mental Helath Nursing
Directions: Create a PowerPoint or Prezi presentations covering the criteria of a given mental health diagnosis. As noted on the tracking calendar, these presentations will be conducted in class during week #13. In addition, your presentation must be uploaded to the Mental Health Preentations folder on B.B. as well as your e-portfolio account before the class of week 13.
Presentation Component
SLIDES
The presentation is a minimum of 11 slides and a maximum of 14 slides that include the following content:
- Title
- Introduction: Purpose of the presentation and a descripton of the diagnosis
- Etiology
- Symptomology
- Behavioral Manifestations: What behaviors would you
- Treatment implications: Counseling versus hospitalization
- Expected pharmacological interventions
- Nursing implications regarding patient treatment
- Relevant Nursing Diagnosis for the diagnosis
- Conclusion
- Reference Page
For each number of slides under 11 or over 14, there will be a 5-point per slide deduction
SLIDE FORMAT
Each slide should have no more than five bulet points. Speaker notes can and should be used on slides. There will be a 2-point deduction for each slide that does not follow this format.
REFERENCES & RELIABILITY
There should be a minimum of 4 references. There will be a 5-point reduction for each reference, fewer than 4. References should be from a reliable source. Sources can include peer-reviewed journals textbook and acceptable websites (cdsc.gov, mayoclinic.org for example). There will be a 5-point deduction for each source that is not deemed acceptable (like Wikipedia).
PRESENTATION
This presentation should be between 6 to 8 minutes in length. For each minute over or under time, there will be a 5-point deduction for a maximum of thirty points. Failure to be present for and participate in the presentation of this assignment will result in an immediate 50-point deduction from the toal presentation score.
SPELLING & SYNTAX
The presentation should be free of grammatical, spelling, and syntax errors. Each noted error will incure a 1-point deduction for a maximum of 10 points.
