Your final paper must be in APA format. There are prompts below to pick from. Pick ONE prompt to research. This writing assignment will be worth 40 points and MUST be in the proper format in order to pass the course. I have included several help links for guidance if you are not familiar with APA formatting. I have included lots of help with APA format. Each paper should be approx. 5-7 pages (not including title page and works cited). You should have a minimum of four sources. Look at the prompts and pick which one you would like to research and then start looking for articles. Use the links I provided or the EFSC writing centers to help. Please feel free to ask me any questions. Please remember if you are using electronic sources, reputable websites only. Websites that end in .com are not always reputable, the website should end in .org, .edu or .gov.
Due dates are posted in Canvas. Your writing assignments WILL NOT be accepted late, they must be turned in by midnight on the date that it is due. There is a dropbox in the appropriate module.
Remember, you MUST use in-text citations! There should be a minimum of four sources. If you are not familiar with how to use in-text citations look at the help links or contact the writing center. You will not be able to pass this class without an APA formatted paper.
CHOOSE ONE OF THE FOLLOWING PROMPTS FOR THE WRITING ASSIGNMENT (or if you have a different idea, get my approval).
1) Describe in detail your earliest happy memory and your earliest sad memory. Use terms from the research to describe the type of memory you are utilizing. Which was easier to remember? Which is more vivid? Why do you suppose this is so? Remember to use research in your paper to back up the facts. At least four sources AND in-text citations.
2) Choose either classical conditioning or operant conditioning and do a little experiment of your own in learning. This could take you in many different directions and is vague on purpose. Explain what you did, how it worked, how it could have been done differently. Use terms from the textbook. Don’t forget to use at least four sources and in-text citations.
3) The textbook discusses theories of personality, read the theories and discuss which one(s) you believe to be correct in determining the personality of an individual. You could also choose to come up with your own theory if your beliefs are not covered in the textbook. Be specific about what you like about the theory and what you may question. Give examples of the evidence for your opinions through research (remember at least four sources). Or you may choose to discuss the history of personality theory (from the past to the present). Just remember to use at least four sources with in-text citations.
4) Identify two emotional states that you have recently experienced – one positive (joy, interest, etc) and one negative (anger, fear, sadness, etc.).
For EACH emotion identify one theoretical perspective that best describes your experience and the “why” or cause of your emotion. (Remember to document your research with at least four sources and in-text citations).
Briefly describe this theory and then discuss in detail how it relates to your own experience of the emotion and its “causes”.
Comment on the role of this emotion in your motivation for a particular related goal. How was motivation related to the experience of this emotion? How was your subsequent motivation influenced by this emotion?
Did the experience of this emotional state lead to the experience of other emotions and if so what were they?
(For example, if your emotion was anger because you were unable to achieve something you desired, did the experience of anger make you more or less motivated to try harder to reach your goal?)
5) Choose a disorder that you learned about in the textbook and match it with a treatment method that you think would treat the disorder effectively. Discuss the following

What treatment method would work the best for the symptoms of this disorder? Use research to back up your ideas. Develop a Treatment Plan for a hypothetical patient based on what you learned. Remember to use at least four sources with in-text citations.
6) Conduct your own Social Psychology experiment. Have you ever seen the show “What would you do?” Predict how you think people will act in a certain situation, explain your hypothesis, conduct the experiment, and analyze the results. Use research to back up why the results were as they were. Remember at least four sources with in-text citations.
7) The world has been impacted by Covid 19 in so many ways. From a psychological standpoint, how has this virus affected affected this country? (You may want to look at mental illness, education, fear, relationships, health, etc. There are many ways to go with this one).
