How does the respiratory system respond to metabolic alkalosis?  It wouldn’t, only the kidneys do   it would increase the breathing rate (hyperventilate)   you would keep breathing normally   it would decrease the breathing rate (hypoventilate) If blood oxygen is low, how do the kidneys compensate?  they produce more urine   they produce erythropoietin   they increase the uptake of oxygen   they decrease the amount of urine output How is pH affected by hypoventilation?  it is decreased   no effect   it is increased   it increases dramatically and then levels offAs the amount of surfactant increased, what happened to the total airflow?  first it decreased slightly and then it rose quickly   it decreased   no effect   it increased
