South Asia’s geography

by | Jan 19, 2021 | College (1-2), Geography

When I was in college and started learning about South Asia’s geography I often thought to myself that the Indian subcontinent was really a “continent” similar to Europe. We have seven states here–India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, and Maldives. But in a way even India itself is worthy to call itself a continent: languages, religions, economic contradictions, ancient history, and political complexity makes it a topic of long and concentrated study.

In your discussion evaluate my thoughts above. Do you agree or disagree? Why or why not? From your readings you will notice that this is part of the world that will increasingly be in the news. Explain why this is so? What interests you most of about this realm? Be sure to include in your comments references to factual information in the textbook. Don’t just write your stream of consciousness.
