First read the document by Juan Nepomuceno Seguín entitled “A Foreigner in My Own Land.” Then read the sources by Donaciano Vigil entitled “Keep Yourselves Quiet,” and “The Sacrificial Goat,” by Pío Pico. (These sources are attached to this file).
After you have read the sources, you should write a response answering the following questions: What were Juan Seguín’s experiences in the years after the Texas Revolution? How did Vigil and Pico respond to the U.S. occupation of their homelands? How was the situation in Texas, New Mexico and California similar and how was it different?
Your response should include analysis of all three sources.
You will be able to use your source analysis in this writing assignment for the Final Essay Exam later in the semester.
